19 of Daniil Medvedev's twenty-one victories have been earned on hardcourt
A revitalized the Russian player secured his first trophy for 882 days with victory over Corentin Moutet in the Almaty Open title decider.
Medvedev, a ex- world number one, has experienced a difficult period, winning just one win at the major tournaments and experiencing a meltdown at the US Open.
His varied form on the professional circuit - and issues with his service game in specific - resulted in him falling of the elite rankings and finally separating with long-time mentor his previous coach.
Currently working with Thomas Johansson and Rohan Goetzke, the tennis star has steadily improved in the recent weeks - peaking in a tightly fought three-set triumph over Frenchman Corentin Moutet.
It is his initial title after the Italian tournament and maiden on a hardcourt after March of the previous year.
The win also means Medvedev has won twenty-one victories at twenty-one various tournaments.
"For the first time I am participating in a event with my both daughters at once, so to get a trophy is really nice," commented ranked player Medvedev.
"This title is in dedication of my second daughter her name, because the first title I won when my first daughter my daughter was born was for her."
The tennis star, the 2021 US Open champion, had been defeated in his last six finals, featuring in the German tournament in the past months.
His counter-punching approach and recurring emotional displays on the playing surface had prompted commentators to question if his capacity to play at the top level was concluded.
But the 29-year-old has implemented adjustments in the last few weeks, making an effort to advance forward and perform aggressively, reinforced by an better service.
He recovered from a break down in the initial set against the challenging Moutet, securing four of the concluding five points to go ahead.
The pair traded break points in the second set before the challenger, bidding for his maiden professional title, took control to push for a final set.
The opponent saved 4 early-game opportunities in a tight final set before Medvedev broke to 15 to close out the victory.
Appropriately, he clinched the win with a rally at the front of the court, with the Frenchman failing to manage a return after over two and a half hours.
