The highly-awaited Season 2 of the adult animated musical series Hazbin Hotel arrives on Prime Video this week, and audience theories has been widespread.
The first season introduces a diverse group of characters residing in the afterlife, sets them at odds accompanied by songs about their clashes, and establishes tense rivalries and emotional bonds that fuel audience devotion.
The community's expectations for the new season vary widely, but certain threads recur frequently: Will Angel Dust escape his tormentor? Will we find out more about the binding agreement affecting the enigmatic Alastor? Will [favorite character] and [other character] finally get together?
"Obviously, I don't make the show with audience demands specifically in mind," the creator commented earlier this year. "However I feel like me being a fan of my own show implies there's a lot of it just naturally. I also want to see these things, and I want some of these things to occur, and clearly some of these things are meant to happen in the show!"
The creator says her big-picture plan is for a five-season run of Hazbin Hotel. Future installments have received approval by Prime Video and A24, which finance the series.
That could imply fans have to be patient for some of the biggest payoffs — but they may be surprised at how fast the new season progresses, and how much of what they're waiting for happens this season.
"I believe people are going to get a lot out of it," the creator notes. "There are several debut moments. I think we get some really amazing reveals, some fascinating backstories, and even basic elements, [like] I hope this character gets a song. […] We're going to hear much more singing from the characters we didn't get to hear before."
She's certainly aware of the theories and desires about season 2 — especially in the format of audience prediction charts.
"I've come across a couple people create a prediction grid about the new season," she says. "Obviously I can't post it, but I've actually done some of them, and almost all of them have almost a bingo. I thought, Oh, if you put this [event] in this spot, it would be a bingo. So that leads me to believe we do a lot [of what fans are waiting for in this season], because I was like, Oh, there's multiple potential bingos on this card. So that brings me joy."
Hazbin Hotel season 2 launches on the streaming service on Oct. 29.
